Artist stretches her work between the scrupulous observation of the reality and the clear graphic sign. Series of her digital prints and serigraphy are record of modern life, consumption, contemplation of the big city and its society. Presented print is part of final scene of animation ‘Consumo’ - illustrating modern society’s rush to consume goods. Parts of banal shopping trolleys are creating fine ornament, arranged in Polish white and red flag.

Seeing Maess’s world of drawings that could be read as testimonies of intellectual and emotional perception of the reality is a great experience of overseeing someone’s brave experiment with light, speed, body, feelings and a purist technique - plain pencil. These complex drawings are artist’s successful try of using various methods to catch movements; bodies are layered, melted, mixed with other elements. Maess’s modern creations have deep connections with ancient mythologies and Goya dramatic drawings, but they are not reproductions but consequences of intellectual and creative process; artist is still in move, observing and taking detailed notes – sketches in her small sketchbook, absorbing pictures, melodies, different languages, analyzing people and stories. She is one of rare and valuable artist that are themselves the pure art...

Joanna Boguslawska-Murawa by Noga Galeria. June 2008.
Joanna Boguslawska-Murawa by Noga Galeria – June 2008. Joanna Boguslawska-Murawa is very sensible for modern world changes. She is telling the dramatic story of human individuals closed in the complicated systems of the city or internet. As graphic artist she came from handmade expressive, vivid linocuts to her own part hand part digital technique. She is creating her very detailed and precise worlds form thousands of off-cuts combinations: they are scanned and re-worked many times. The digital printed artwork is effect of months or sometimes even years of work. Joanna’s Cities, Towers and Castles are glowing with fantastic moon-like-light, they are telling their secret stories and they are fabulous...
